I needed a deck box that would not become a fuel source in the event of a brush fire, which happens here in California. Most deck boxes are made of plastic. This was one of a few that I found made of aluminum. The final product worked well - it was strong, yet light. It does need to be set on a uniformly flat surface or the lid will not close, but that is understandable. Assembly is not that easy however. Parts are labeled, and that is helpful. However, there is some ambiguity on the orientation of some of the parts, and due to the flexibility of the individual parts, some coaxing is needed to get parts to slide together during assembly. I did paint the outside of the box a light color, as the box sits in the sun and I use the box to hold feed and bowls for our geese. The dark color would cook the feed in the summer heat. If you change the color, it is easiest to paint the parts before assembly.This is a well-made and strong deckbox that doubles as a bench or a patio coffee table. I am using it to store umbrellas that I used in my yard and patio (I have several for different areas of the yard - nice to get them out of the garage for storage), and some chair cushions, and there is extra room in the box. It is great for a bench, too.I put it together myself and found the instructions and labeled parts easy to understand. All the parts are identified by letters that correspond with illustrations/diagrams for each step in the instructions; the small parts are bagged separately and labeled with letters. It was a little challenging putting it together but only because I didn't have 4 strong hands. I'm a 60 y/o woman with arthritis in my hands, and tightening down the bolts required better tools than the ones I started with that were included with the deckbox. It will be easier if you have two people to assemble the deckbox (holding parts in place while trying to insert and tighten bolts isn't easy by yourself) and if you use better tools than those that come with the deckbox. (The tool set included are nice for light use and are magnet - I needed tools with bigger grips and easier on my hands.)I love that the box is aluminum. It looks great, feels strong, and is the perfect height to sit on. I like the adjustable feet on the deckbox and that it is raised off the ground a little with the feet. It has a hydraulic arm for the lid so it won't slam shut. You can put a pad lock on both ends, which is nicer than having a lock on the front if you use it for a bench, and also more secure if you are storing something that needs locked up. It comes with corner protectors for the lid corners. The top is grooved. Since I have it on a small patio next to a tree, I found a doormat the fits the top perfectly to cover it and keep tree debris out of the grooves on top of the box. If you need a deckbox and this size works for you, I highly recommend it.Great box to hold outdoor tools for the yard and get them out of my single car garage. It was, however, quite a chore to put this thing together.Use this in my garden to keep cushions and toys for my granddaughters. My husband and I put together and had to redo a couple of times when directions were not clear.What a great addition to our backyard pool area. We used and old plastic box open top for all of our pool stuff, mainly the kiddos toys and such. This aluminum deck box using very rigid aluminum and at 75 gallons, or you could just say a large deck box-organization and storage for patio furniture outdoor cushions, throw pillows, and or our pool toys.We purchased this aluminum metal deck box so it would last and not wear out. It also looks great on our patio and the color matches our other furniture. I wanted to move away from a plastic one that eventually wear out in our Arizona sun. So this deck box made of metal aluminum is what I preferred as it is hard, durable, wear-resistant, waterproof and sun protected.It is very versatile can even be used indoors like in an, “Arizona room” I liked it so much I may buy another one to put at the mountain cabin to store our indoor stuff, . indoors, you can store quilts, bedding and large items. It would also be great for, sports equipment, or the garage.I just cannot say enough great things about this functional designed deck box uses a flip-top air pump design to slow down the lid closing speed which is great for the little kiddos. I also repels the rain and boy do we get thunderstorms in the summer time. I put it together without any trouble directions were great go get one or two It works as described. The primary reason for the 3 stars is that no directions were enclosed. I had to watch the product video back and forth to see how to put together. That’s a true pet peeve of mine.Overall quality is good after assembled.However, it took me 2 hours to assemble it. The instructions are vague and unclear. The material is out of shape so it's quite difficult to put some parts together. I've been working back and forth and had to use tools to adjust some of the parts.
